What Does the Name Mean?
The word “mandala” is from the classical Indian language of Sanskrit. Loosely translated to mean “circle,” a mandala is far more than a simple shape. It represents wholeness, and can be seen as a model for the organizational structure of life itself—a cosmic diagram that reminds us of our relation to the infinite, the world that extends both beyond and within our bodies and minds. Describing both material and non-material realities, the mandala appears in all aspects of life: the celestial circles we call earth, sun, and moon, as well as conceptual circles of friends, family, and community.
From Mandala: Journey to the Center by Bailey Cunningham, The Mandala Project
Pink is a soothing color on all levels, physical mental and emotional levels. It can be used to soothe conditions of anger and feelings of neglect. Pink can be used to awaken compassion, love, and purity. It can be used in meditation to discern greater truths. It is comforting to the emotional energies of the individual.

Meet Aine Calgaro
As the mind and soul behind Pink Mandala, I apply more than 20 years of journalism, marketing and public relations experience to the challenges of building web sites with a holistic emphasis. I am a certified feng shui practitioner, having trained in Interior Alignment Instinctive Feng Shui, as developed by Denise Linn. I specialize in working with businesses and individuals which emphasize self-actualization, spiritual transformation, creative expression and respect for nature.
I’m a lifelong spiritual seeker and was geeky before geekiness became cool. As an 8-year-old, I was the kid who was always founding clubs just for the opportunity to come up with catchy names and slogans. At age 10, I published The Snoopy Times, which was produced in longhand on notebook paper but would now probably be considered a “zine.”
I began studying computer science in college after discovering an aptitude for debugging scripts (in other words, finding missing semicolons and other punctuation). But I soon tired of using punch cards and depending on a mainframe, so I changed my focus to communications. During the decade after my graduation, PCs became widely available and desktop publishing techniques were invented. In every work environment she encountered, I’ve become the go-to person for computer assistance.
When the internet took off in the early ’90s, I heartily rejoiced. I began creating web sites professionally in 1998 and continually look for techniques and tools to make sites quick-loading, intuitive and accessible.

How do you pronounced your weird name?
Aine is pronouced ‘aw-ne’—I usually tell people to think of it as the Celtic version of ‘Anya.’ The goddess Aine rules agriculture, fertility, crops, and animals. I’m not so good with plants, but I do love kids and critters. And I eat my vegetables.
